What helps you start speaking
Hint when stuck
Stopped talking — a "What to say?" button appears. Parleo suggests three phrases with translation, any can be sent with a tap to continue the conversation.
Russian on standby
Ask in Russian "how to say I'm tired" — you'll get the phrase and explanation, then a short question in English to get back into the conversation.
Review at the end
After the conversation, Parleo collects your lines: what went well, which phrases to correct, and what to improve next time.
Role-play
You choose the scene, Parleo plays the other part and speaks first: a waiter in a coffee shop, a porter in a hotel, a recruiter in an interview. It stays in character until the end of the conversation.
When you get tired of talking
Nine games, and in all of them you have to speak aloud. You play six alone, and three more — with a company: the phone goes around, Parleo leads the game and decides who answered correctly.
- 1Translate into English — Parleo gives you a phrase in Russian, you say it aloud.
- 2Find the mistake — a mistake is hidden in the sentence, you need to name it.
- 3Describe the picture — you say what you see. Parleo asks clarifying questions.
- 4Guess the word, Alias and riddles — these are games for a group: you explain in English, others guess.
Frequently Asked Questions
What level can I start from?
From zero conversational. At the "Beginner" level, Parleo speaks in four-to-eight-word phrases and translates each of its replies. You can switch levels later in the menu with one tap.
How long does one conversation take?
As long as you want. With a full subscription, you get sixty voice replies per day — that's thirty to forty minutes of conversation. Parleo also replies via text beyond that limit.
What if I don't know what to say?
After a few seconds of silence, a "What to say?" button appears. Parleo will suggest three suitable phrases with translations, any of which you can send with one tap.
Does it hear a Russian accent?
Yes. The recognition is designed for non-native speech: slow, with pauses and an accent. It rarely confuses similar words.
Can I type instead of speaking?
Yes, there's an input field below the microphone. The reply will be the same, with voiceover and correction.
