Privacy Policy

Effective from September 4, 2026.

Parleo is a voice partner for practicing English. This document describes what data the service collects, why it's needed, who it's shared with, and how long it's stored.

What the service collects

• Device ID – a random string that the app creates on first launch. It allows the service to identify whose vocabulary it is and how many responses have been used. The service does not ask for your first name, last name, or phone number.
• Voice recording – when you press the microphone. The recording is sent for recognition and immediately deleted: it is not stored on the server.
• Text of your messages and Parleo's responses – to keep the conversation coherent. The dialogue history remains in the app on your device. The service stores a copy of the text for a month alongside the device ID and uses it to investigate complaints: why Parleo didn't understand a phrase, why the voice changed. The copy is deleted after a month.
• Words you have saved, and repetition marks – these are needed for flashcards and reminders. Stored on the server alongside the device ID.
• Technical data: IP address, device type, time of access, volume of responses used.
• Email – only if you pay for the full plan: the cash receipt is sent to it.

Why this is needed

For conversation and speech verification to work, for saved words to return for repetition, to count used requests and issue invoices, and to identify service malfunctions.

Who data is shared with

• OpenRouter (USA) – speech recognition and partner responses. Voice recordings and conversation text are sent there.
• YooKassa (Russia) – payment processing and cash receipt issuance. Email and payment amount are sent there. The service does not see or store card data: YooKassa processes it.

The first of these is located outside of Russia, so speech and conversation text are transferred abroad. By using the service, you agree to such transfer. Data is not shared with advertising networks or other third parties.

How long everything is stored

• Voice recordings – not stored at all.
• Conversation text – one month.
• Saved words and repetition marks – as long as you use the service.
• Response and usage counters – up to two months.
• Payment data – five years, as required by accounting law.

How to delete your data

In the app, open the menu and select "Delete my data": your dictionary, sessions, mistakes, and counters are immediately removed from the server. Without the app, support can do this for you — write to support@engbuddy.ru, and we'll delete it within three business days. Children

The service is designed for adults. If a child is under fourteen, they may only use the app with parental consent.

New editions are published on this page. The date at the top indicates when it came into effect.
